The list will be accessible to the public, including the Food and Drug Administration and U.S. importers, to determine whether Canadian food suppliers meet the condition of an exemption to U.S. FSVP requirements, CFIA said. Under FSVP, food from suppliers in good standing with the regulatory authorities of countries with which the U.S. has signed equivalence agreements are largely exempt from FSVP (see 1511160014). The U.S. signed such an agreement with Canada in 2016 (see 1605040053). The list will be available once CFIA finalizes its Safe Food for Canadians Regulations, CFIA said. The regulations, proposed in 2017, are similar to those of the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act (see 1701250050).
