  • CITT finds injury regarding dumping of dry wheat pasta from Turkey. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on July 26 found that the dumping and subsidizing of dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey has caused injury to the domestic industry. Antidumping and countervailing duties will therefore be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency. The complainant in the case was the Canadian Pasta Manufacturers Association, of Ottawa, Ontario. CITT will issue the reasons for its finding on Aug. 10, 2018.
  • CBSA launches scope proceeding on certain fabricated industrial steel components. The Canada Border Services Agency announced July 26 it is launching its first scope proceeding as a result of the amendments to the Special Import Measures Act and the Special Import Measures Regulations that came into force on April 26, 2018. The scope proceeding is being conducted in order to establish whether or not liquefied natural gas (LNG) modules are subject to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal’s injury finding issued on May 25, 2017, concerning the dumping of certain fabricated industrial structural components from China and South Korea, and the subsidizing of the same components from China. The scope proceeding is the result of an application filed with CBSA by Woodfibre LNG Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia, a potential importer of the goods that are the subject of the application.
  • CBSA initiates dumping investigation of corrosion-resistant steel sheet. The Canada Border Services Agency on July 26, 2018, initiated an investigation with respect to the alleged injurious dumping of certain corrosion-resistant steel sheet from China, Taiwan, India and South Korea. The investigation under the Special Import Measures Act follows a complaint filed by ArcelorMittal Dofasco G.P., supported by Stelco Inc.
  • CFIA suspends operating license of meat processor Pinty’s Delicious Foods Inc. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency on July 25 announced it had suspended the operating license of Pinty's Delicious Foods Inc., effective July 19. The registered meat processing establishment located in Oakville, Ontario, failed to meet regulatory requirements as required by the Meat Inspection Regulations, 1990, CFIA said.
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2018 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
  • Product Recalls: Trek Bicycle Corporation recalls Bontrager Line Pro flat bicycle pedals manufactured in Taiwan, for fall hazard.
