Canadian Government Notices as of Sept. 5
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Sept. 5 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- Amendments to the Department of Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The Canada Border Services Agency issued on Aug. 31 Customs Notice 18-13, advising of an amendment to the July 1, 2018, version of the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The statistical suffix for tariff item 4412.99.90.20 has been deleted and tariff item 4412.99.90.30 has been amended to remove “, other” -- and now reads “With at least one outer ply of non-coniferous wood.” The changes take effect Sept. 1, 2018.
- CBSA initiation of normal value review for carbon and alloy steel line pipe. The Canada Border Services Agency on Sept. 4 initiated a normal value review to update the normal values and export prices of certain carbon and alloy steel line pipe exported from South Korea to Canada by Husteel Co., Ltd. The review comes as part of CBSA’s enforcement of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal’s finding, issued on Jan. 4, 2018, of a threat of injury with respect to the dumping of line pipe from South Korea, in accordance with the Special Import Measures Act.
- NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2018 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
- Product Recalls: Osmo Wood and Color Canada Ltd. recalls various wood finishing products manufactured in Germany, for improper chemical hazard labeling.
