- CETA industrial cheese TRQ. Global Affairs Canada notified industry stakeholders that, as of Sept. 10, 2018, the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)industrial cheese tariff rate quota for 2018 is open to requests for allocations "from resident of Canada further processors that are not allocation holders for 2018 or have not returned any CETA Industrial Cheese TRQ allocation during the 2018 TRQ year." It explained the terms as: “Industrial cheese” means cheese used as ingredients for further food processing (secondary manufacturing) imported in bulk (not for retail sale). “Further processor” means an establishment that uses cheese as an ingredient in the production of further processed food products, other than cheese, in its own provincially licensed or federally registered processing facility. Restaurants are not considered to be further processors. Applicants interested in securing a portion of the quantities available should submit requests on company letterhead by close of business on Sept. 19, 2018, by email to CETA.Quotas@international.gc.ca. On Sept. 10, a total of 293,023 kg of TRQ were available for allocation until Dec. 31, 2018.
