  • Canadian international merchandise trade for August 2018. Statistics Canada reports that Canada's merchandise trade balance with the world was in a surplus position for the first time since December 2016. The $526 million surplus followed a $189 million deficit in July as imports decreased by 2.5% and exports were down 1.1% in August. Lower imports from countries other than the U.S. and lower exports of passenger cars and light trucks accounted for the declines, it said.
