Canadian Government Notices as of Oct. 17
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Oct. 17 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- International transactions in securities for August 2018. Statistics Canada reports "that foreign investment in Canadian securities slowed to $2.8 billion in August, down from $15.3 billion in July. Canadian investors reduced their holdings of foreign securities by $194 million," which "generated a net inflow of funds in the economy of $3 billion in August."
- Cannabis customs excise duty procedures. The Canada Border Services Agency issued Customs Notice 18-19 on Oct. 16, to inform "importers and customs brokers on the calculation of the amounts of cannabis duty and additional cannabis duty to be imposed on packaged cannabis products, as per legislative changes to the Excise Act, 2001, when importing these goods into Canada."
- CITT continues finding on carbon steel welded pipe. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Oct. 15 continued its Dec. 11, 2012, finding that the dumping and subsidizing of carbon steel welded pipe from Taiwan, India, Oman, South Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates are likely to result in injury. The Canada Border Services Agency will therefore continue to impose antidumping and countervailing duties on these products.
- Product Recalls: Abond Group Inc. recalls Tubeez Baby Bath Support manufactured in China, for drowning hazard; Toy Land Company recalls Boom Boom Chems slime and putty manufactured in China, for unsafe boric acid levels; Dollar Novelty (Karapelle Inc.) recalls Barrel-O-Slime toys manufactured in China, for unsafe boric acid levels.
