The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Nov. 21 (some may also be given separate headlines):

  • CITT initiates expiry review for circular copper tube. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated on Nov. 20 an expiry review of its findings made Dec. 18, 2013, in Inquiry No. NQ‑2013‑004, to determine if the continued or resumed dumping of circular copper tube from Brazil, Greece, China, South Korea and Mexico, and the continued or resumed subsidizing of those goods originating in or exported from China, are likely to result in injury. The Canada Border Services Agency will determine if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping and/or subsidizing on April 23, 2019.
  • CITT issues determination for nitisinone capsules from Sweden. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal determined Nov. 20 that there is a reasonable indication that the dumping of nitisinone capsules from Sweden has caused injury or is threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. The inquiry was conducted after the Canada Border Services Agency initiated a dumping investigation. CBSA will continue its investigation and, by Dec. 20, 2018, issue a preliminary determination.
  • CFIA cancels the registration of White Diamonds Inc. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has canceled the registration of dairy Establishment 1530, White Diamonds Inc. in Ontario, because the company failed to pay the renewal fee as required under the Dairy Product Registration. The cancellation is effective Nov. 16, 2018.
  • Product Recalls: Indigo Books & Music Inc. and American Girl recall American Girl WellieWishers Magic Theater Play Tent manufactured in China, for fire and burn hazards; Dollarama recalls MONTOY doll and toy furniture set manufactured in China, for phthalates exposure hazard.
