Canadian Government Notices as of April 24

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices as of April 24 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Arctic Shipping Electronic Commercial Clearance Program. The Canada Border Services Agency on April 22 updated Customs Notice 20-16 to provide “clarification on eligible participants and cargo transported on vessels approved for the Arctic Shipping Electronic Commercial Clearances Program (ASECC) pilot program.” The online application for participation in the pilot program has changed, so carriers need to use the most recent form BSF786. Vessels approved for, and using the ASECC alternate process are prohibited from transporting any goods that may be subject to Other Government Department (OGD) requirements.
  • Product Recalls: Sundial Growers Inc. recalled one lot of Top Leaf Strawberry Cream dried cannabis pre-rolls manufactured in Canada, for improper THC contents amounts on labels; CANVAS Turner Bar Stool Set manufactured in China recalled, for fall hazard; LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser manufactured in China recalled, for electric shock hazard; Leviton 50-ampere electrical connectors manufactured in Mexico recalled, for electric shock hazard.
