Best Buy Black Friday Deals Go Live at Higher Prices, Thinner Discounts
Most of Best Buy’s Black Friday prices kicked in Friday, in a season that retail experts expect to be less promotional due to tight inventories caused by component shortages and shipping and logistical snarls.

In TVs, Best Buy is selling a 70-inch Samsung 4K smart Tizen TV for $150 off at $599, an exclusive; its 65-inch 8000 Series 4K smart TV is $699, $100 off. Last year, a standout Samsung Black Friday deal at Best Buy offered a 70-inch model at a $220 discount to $529.
A Sony 65-inch TV is shown discounted by $300 to $1,199 at Best Buy. Last year, the retailer spotlighted a 65-inch Sony model at $400 off to $999 for its Black Friday sale. A TCL 50-inch 4K Android TV was featured last year in Black Friday ads at $229 ($120 off). For Black Friday 2021, TCL 4K 50-inch TVs are $359 ($60 and $90 off) and $449 ($150 off). Deals include one or more new-subscriber subscription VOD trial offers: 30 days of fuboTV Pro and three months of Apple TV+.
Other featured items for Best Buy’s 2021 Black Friday sales, running through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, are Beats by Dr. Dre Studio3 wireless noise-canceling headphones, $180 off to $169; an LG 65-inch OLED 4K smart TV at $300 off to $1,799, and $129 for a Samsung 2.1-channel soundbar ($150 off). Amazon smart speakers start at $19 and Samsung laptops are up to $500 off, including a 15-inch Galaxy Book Pro at $999. A Samsung 15-inch Chromebook is cut by $100 to $199. Bose QuietComfort Earbuds and Sleepbuds II are both $199 at $80 and $50 discounts. Last year’s Black Friday special at Best Buy cut $100 off the Bose QuietComfort 35 over-the-ear headphones to $199.
Best Buy also was to release other deals beginning Sunday. Shoppers who buy the Oculus Quest 2 headset will get a $50 Best Buy electronic gift card. Starting Wednesday, select MacBook Airs will be marked down $10, and Thursday, Beats Studio Buds will be $50 off, it said.
Like most major retailers, Best Buy will close stores Thanksgiving Day, reopening at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. My Best Buy (free) and Best Buy Totaltech ($199 per year) members will be notified by email of exclusive deals when they’re live, it said. Best Buy is extending holiday returns until Jan. 16 for items bought Oct. 18-Jan. 2, it said.
Sonos products weren’t part of the Best Buy Black Friday ad. Sonos Chief Financial Officer Brittany Bagley said on the company’s quarterly call that the company won't stage its customary holiday promotions due to supply-demand imbalances resulting from component shortages (see 2111180049). Sonos' Arc sound bar and Move speakers were on backorder Friday at Best Buy.
