UK Adds 386 Members of Russian State Duma to Sanctions List

The U.K.'s Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation added 386 members of the Russian State Duma to its Russia sanctions list as part of its wave of sanctions in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The individuals were added for backing the treaties recognizing the independence of Ukraine's Luhansk and Donetsk regions. The U.S., the EU and Australia already have sanctioned members of the Duma.

"We’re targeting those complicit in [President Vladimir] Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and those who support this barbaric war," U.K. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said. "We will not let up the pressure and will continue to tighten the screw on the Russian economy through sanctions. Together with our allies, we stand firmly beside our Ukrainian friends. We will continue to support Ukraine with humanitarian aid, defensive weapons and diplomatic work to isolate Russia internationally."
