Anthony Gonzalez, R-Ohio, and Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., the Deceptive Experiences to Online Users Reduction (Detour) Act (see 2112080043) attempts to address dark patterns, or interfaces used to “manipulate users into taking actions they would otherwise not.” Fairplay, the American Psychological Association and the Center for Countering Digital Hate support the bill.
