OFAC Sanctions Myanmar Jet Fuel Procurement Companies, Issues Alert
The U.S. last week sanctioned two people and six entities linked to Myanmar’s military regime and issued a new alert to warn companies about the risks of providing jet fuel to the country’s military.

The sanctions target Asia Sun Group, Asia Sun Trading and Cargo Link Petroleum Logistics, Myanmar-based companies that have helped supply jet fuel to the country, including by purchasing the fuel and distributing it to military bases across the country. OFAC also designated Star Sapphire Group of Companies and Star Sapphire Trading Company, owned by Tun Min Latt, for importing military arms and equipment. Also sanctioned was Win Min Soe, wife of Tun Min Latt, who co-owns the companies along with Singapore-based Star Sapphire Group.
Myanmar has “relied on imports of jet fuel to carry out its lethal air strikes that have killed hundreds of men, women, and children throughout the country,” OFAC said in its new alert. The agency warned that shipping jet fuel to Myanmar “could be sanctionable.”
