USTR Asks for Comments on Equity, Trade Policy for Specific Regions
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is asking for comments on how to make sure trade benefits "underserved and marginalized communities" in the U.S., and how trade benefits marginalized communities in foreign countries that export to the U.S.

USTR is asking that comments be submitted at regulations.gov, docket number USTR-2023-0004. The deadline is Aug. 11.
The comments should be no longer than 10 pages, and submissions can address what trade actions or provisions would advance racial and gender equity; how can trade and investment policy address rural communities, or intersectional identities, such as a black woman with a disability; are there consultation and engagement processes to advance equity; or are there trade policies that are detrimental to advancing equity among underserved populations. The Federal Register notice, published June 12, also asked: "How can trade policymaking better respond to the specific interests of different U.S. regions and local communities?"
