Aluminum Association to Lobby for More Products Tariffed at 25%
The Aluminum Association, in its weekly newsletter emailed May 24, said it had expected aluminum products that aren't subject to any Section 301 tariffs to be included in a new 25% tariff, but only 31 HTS codes will be covered (see 2405220072).

The association said last month that while increasing 7.5% tariffs to 25% was a win for the industry; it now says will argue to add more aluminum products to the 25% target list.
Imported aluminum, except for goods from Australian, Canadian and Mexican markets, is subject to 10% tariffs under the separate Section 232 trade protection. According to S&P Global, Chinese aluminum had 3% of the import market in 2023.
