Section 232 Exception for Ukraine to Continue
The White House on May 31 extended a one-year exception for 25% tariffs on steel from Ukraine, one day before the waiver was set to expire (see 2205310061. This will be the third year Ukrainian steel has been allowed to avoid the tariffs.

The White House proclamation said that the Russian invasion has damaged Ukrainian steelmaking, but the U.S. wants Ukraine to maintain the industry to help it recover after the war is over. The White House said the amount of Ukrainian steel imported has fallen each year, and is less than 1% of all steel imports. The extension runs through June 1, 2025.
