- CBP is receiving comments through Oct. 11 on plans to increase the estimated annual burden hours as they relate to the collection of paperwork for the Automated Clearinghouse and the Automated Broker Interface (here)
- A separate Federal Register notice is alerting interested parties that CBP is also receiving comments through Oct. 11 on plans to increase the estimated annual burden hours as they relate to the collection of paperwork for the Transportation Entry and Manifest of Goods Subject to CBP Inspection and Permit (here)
- CBP said Aug. 8 that its officers at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility seized 378 pounds of methamphetamine worth thousands of dollars hidden in a shipment of fresh tomatillos on Aug. 4. A commercial tractor-trailer with a shipment manifested for fresh tomatillos sought entry into the U.S. from Mexico and was flagged by CBP for further examination. After conducting an inspection using non-intrusive scanning technology, CBP officers observed irregularities and eventually discovered and extracted a total of 50 packages concealed within the shipment of fresh tomatillos.
