  • CBP officers in Louisville, Kentucky, seized 28 shipments of counterfeit designer jewelry during January, the agency said Feb. 6. The shipments of counterfeit designer watches, bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings were mostly from China and Hong Kong and bound for locations across the U.S. Had the items been genuinte, they would have had a combined suggested retail value of almost $27.5 million, CBP said (here)
  • CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Texas intercepted $19.8 million in methamphetamine and $144,500 in heroin concealed within a shipment manifested as cucumber and jalapeño on Feb. 4. When a tractor trailer arriving from Mexico was inspected, they found packages containing a total of 2,217.85 pounds of methamphetamine and 7.53 pounds of heroin, CBP said (here)
  • CBP agricultural specialists uncovered 37 live beetles concealed inside of multiple packages of Japanese snacks, potato chips, and chocolate at the Los Angeles International Airport in January. The contraband, valued at $1,480, was discovered during a physical exampination of a shipment arriving from Japan via air cargo, CBP said (here)
  • GUIDANCE: Annual Quota Opening Feb. 7 for Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic (CSPV) Solar Cells. In alignment with presidential proclamations and Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974 providing for a tariff rate quota for Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic cells and an additional duty for modules comprised of CSPV cells, the 2025 new quota period begins Feb. 7 (here)
  • CBP has updated the ACE Entry Summary Create/Update CATAIR and it's posted online now. The updated document includes a change in the introductory text related to derivative steel and data element descriptions for the Country of Melt and Pour Code and Country of Melt and Pour Applicability Code (here).
