Treasury Taps Department Official to Perform Deputy Secretary Role
Treasury Department official Derek Theurer has been appointed to perform the duties of deputy secretary, the agency announced Oct. 7. Michael Faulkender, who received Senate confirmation as Treasury's deputy secretary in March (see 2503270007), reportedly left the department in August.

Theurer joined Treasury as counselor in January and was nominated to be deputy undersecretary for legislative affairs in March. The Senate Finance Committee still plans to vote on that nomination Oct. 8, a committee spokesperson said. In an earlier role as a congressional aide, Theurer was involved in drafting legislation to restrict U.S. outbound investment (see 2502070023).
