Trump: Xi Wants to Discuss 157% Tariff Rate

President Donald Trump said that China's President Xi Jinping wants "to discuss the fact that they're paying 157% tariff, it's a little higher than they thought. And we're doing very well. I think we're going to do well in that negotiation."

He circled back to the upcoming meeting, scheduled for later this month in South Korea, after talking about how tariffs are making America rich, and how important the tariffs case is at the Supreme Court. He was speaking Oct. 21 while hosting most Republican senators for lunch.

"I think we're going to have a very successful meeting. Certainly there are a lot of people that are waiting for it. Maybe it won't happen," he allowed. "Things can happen where, for instance, maybe somebody will say, 'I don't want to meet, it's too nasty,' but it's really not nasty. It's just business, and we're going to, we're going to do a good job representing you people and representing the people of our country."
