In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Moreno said that Estado Mayor de Bloques y Frentes, Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia and Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada engage in drug trafficking and other deadly activities.

Designating the groups FTOs would “equip American authorities with stronger tools to disrupt these groups' financial and logistical networks, help bring members and those who support them to justice and protect the American people from these terrorist organizations,” the senator wrote.

Moreno said Oct. 22 that he was working with the Trump administration to designate additional drug cartels FTOs (see 2510230020). The State Department declined to comment on the matter.
