Bill Would Sanction Foreign Traffickers, Makers of Counterfeit Drugs

Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., introduced a bill Nov. 6 that would create a program to identify and sanction foreign traffickers and manufacturers of counterfeit drugs and drug ingredients.

Cotton said dangerous and ineffective copycat drugs from China and elsewhere pose a growing threat to American consumers.

The Combatting Counterfeit Pharmaceuticals Act was referred to the Senate Banking Committee.
