Trusty Calls for Infrastructure Reform in Speech at ITU Conference

FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty emphasized the importance of cutting red tape for building infrastructure Monday in a speech to the ITU’s World Telecommunication Development Conference in Azerbaijan. “Connectivity flourishes under pro-market policies that foster mutually beneficial innovation,” she said.

The Trump administration is “modernizing infrastructure rules to streamline deployment and ensure that we remain the world’s preeminent digital innovator,” Trusty said. The FCC is “building on reforms launched” during the first Trump administration, “continuing to reduce barriers and accelerate broadband and network buildout across our country."

Trusty also called for the reelection of Doreen Bogdan-Martin as ITU secretary-general. “Her results-driven, and reform-minded leadership continue to inspire us all.”
