China Says It Approved Some Rare Earth Export Licenses
China has approved certain export license applications submitted by Chinese companies for shipments of controlled rare earths, a Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said Dec. 18.

Some Chinese exporters have "initially met the basic requirements for applying for general licenses," a ministry spokesperson said during a regular press conference, according to an unofficial translation. "To my knowledge, some general license applications submitted by Chinese exporters have already been received and approved."
The spokesperson, who was responding to a question about whether China has approved any licenses for items to European companies, didn't say which country the approved applications covered.
