ITC Launches Section 337 Investigation on Smart Rings
The International Trade Commission began a Section 337 investigation on allegations that Samsung, Reebok, their subsidiaries and seven other companies from the U.K., China, India and the U.S. are importing and selling smart rings that infringe patents held by Ouraring (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1468), it said in a notice to be published Dec. 22.

The complaint was filed in November and seeks a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against the respondents to bar from entry "certain smart wearable devices, systems, and components thereof" that violate the complainants' patents (see 2511200011).
In the complaint, Ouraring said that its product is a smart ring that "accurately provides personalized insights into user’s fitness and health by monitoring heart rate, temperature variations, blood oxygen levels, and movement during both sleep and active periods."
