Application Portal for FDA's VQIP Opens Jan. 1

The FDA's Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) application portal for fiscal year 2027 will be opening up on Jan. 1, according to an update on FDA's website. The application window will last until Sept. 1.

The VQIP, a voluntary, fee-based program, provides food importers with an opportunity to streamline their import processes through expedited review and importation benefits so long as importers can demonstrate control over their supply chain safety and security, the FDA says.

Importers interested in participating in the VQIP must ensure their foreign supplier facilities are certified through FDA's accredited third-party certification program.
