- CBP officers at the Port of San Juan in Puerto Rico seized about 935 pounds of bricks of cocaine hidden inside a flatbed cargo trailer chassis arriving from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, according to a news release. On Dec. 24, CBP officers were inspecting inbound cargo aboard the passenger/roll-on/roll-off vessel M/V Kydon when they noticed irregularities in a flatbed cargo platform chassis, CBP said. The estimated value of the seized contraband is $6.7 million (here).
- CBP officers recently intercepted six separate ketamine smuggling attempts in Philadelphia, with shipments originating in Europe and destined for addresses in the U.S. The shipments, which arrived between Sept. 23 and Dec. 11, were each manifested as something different: the ketamine was inside objects such as a punching bag base, plastic cleaning solvent bottles, plastic shell cases and vacuum-sealed bags, CBP said. Four shipments arrived from the U.K., one from France and one from the Netherlands. Four shipments were destined for Florida and two to Connecticut (here).
