US Ambassador to India: We Will 'Get There' on Trade Deal
The new U.S. ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, said in his first speech in New Delhi that fair trade and mutual respect are at the heart of U.S. diplomacy.

"Many of you have asked me for an update on the ongoing trade deal negotiations," he said Jan. 12. "Both sides continue to actively engage. In fact, the next call on trade will occur tomorrow. Remember, India is the world's largest nation. So, it's not an easy task to get this across the finish line. But we are determined to get there."
He also said India will be a member of the U.S. initiative to build a secure silicon supply chain, called Pax Silica. Japan, South Korea, the U.K. and Israel are already members, with Qatar also joining this week (see 2601120038).
