Senator Proposes Sanctions for Blocking Humanitarian Aid
Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., introduced a bill Jan. 14 that would direct the president to impose financial sanctions on foreign government officials who prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza and elsewhere.

Wyden’s legislation is mainly aimed at Israel’s government, which he accused of obstructing the flow of food, fuel, medicine and other humanitarian assistance to war-torn Gaza.
The Accountability for Withholding Aid and Relief Essentials Act, or Aware Act, was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
