Commerce Secretary Bryson said the Commerce Department will soon announce a call for proposals to support clusters specifically in advanced manufacturing -- through a competition called the Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge, in remarks at the “Future of Manufacturing Conference” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston May 9. These funds are not targeted to create clusters, Bryson said, because that’s not the government’s role. Instead, according to Bryson, Commerce wants to give a boost to existing clusters that have already formed on their own, and which show strong potential to drive innovation and create good jobs.

The International Trade Administration issued an amended final determination and antidumping duty order on certain steel nails from the United Arab Emirates (A-520-804), which among other things amends the rates for two respondents and the all other rates. The order also details a "gap period" of May 2 - May 7 of no AD duty liability due to the expiration of the provisional measures period. This order is effective May 8, 2012, and is expected to be implemented by U.S. Customs and Border Protection soon.

The International Trade Administration issued the final results an antidumping duty new shipper review of certain frozen fish fillets from Vietnam (A-552-801), which sets a zero AD cash deposit rate for the manufacturer/exporter Thuan An Production Trading & Services Co., Ltd (aka TAFISHCO). No AD cash deposit will be required for shipments of subject merchandise both produced and exported from Thuan An entered, or withdrawn from warehouse, for consumption on or after the effective date of May 10, 2012.
