The Environmental Protection Agency states that Administrator Jackson will join ministers from the Methane to Markets Partnership countries in Mexico City on October 1, 2010. At the meeting, the U.S. will work with partner nations to encourage global action to reduce methane emission sources and identify possible additional resources to achieve this goal.
The Department of Transportation has announced that the Trucking Industry Mobility & Technology Coalition (TIMTC) Annual Meeting will be held October 18 - 19, 2010 in conjunction with ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, providing TIMTC members with the opportunity to participate in both events simultaneously. TIMTC is a U.S. DOT-sponsored forum for public and private sector stakeholders that are focused on the latest in truck technology and productivity initiatives.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the South Korea Supreme Prosecution Service (SPS) signed a memorandum of understanding on September 13, 2010 that strengthens the investigative cooperation between both countries. Under the agreement, South Korea's SPS and ICE's Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) have agreed to increase their cooperation and collaboration to investigate issues that include counter-proliferation, intellectual property rights, cyber crime, money laundering and human trafficking and smuggling.
On September 14, 2010, the Commerce Department released retail sales data for August 2010. Retail sales rose 0.4 percent, essentially matching the July gain of 0.3 percent and slightly above private-sector expectations. Motor vehicle sales fell 0.7 percent, and sales at gasoline stations jumped 1.9 percent. Sales excluding motor vehicle and parts dealers and gasoline stations rose 0.5 percent.
