The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will hold a fifth review session for its 2010 Annual Report from October 12-14, 2010. These sessions are open to the public.

Canada's Department of Finance has announced a new tariff relief measure that waives the 25% tariff on imports of all general cargo vessels and tankers, as well as ferries longer than 129 meters. The measure builds on the Government’s recent aggressive tariff relief to support the manufacturing sector, and supports Canada’s Economic Action Plan’s objectives of lower taxes and promoting a more competitive economy.
Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Sharma, during a bilateral meeting with Russian Trade and Industry Minister Khristenko, urged Russia to open up sectors like Bovine meat, animal products and pharmaceuticals. The two sides also agreed to enhance efforts to meet their October 2009 goal of enhancing bilateral trade from the current $4.5 billion to $20 billion by 2015.
According to the Canada Gazette, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is initiating investigations into the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain metal bar grating of carbon, alloy, or stainless steel originating in or exported from China.The Canadian International Trade Tribunal's preliminary injury determination is due by November 19, 2010.
In the World Trade Organization’s tenth Trade Policy Review for the U.S., the WTO describes the U.S. economic environment and general and specific trade measures taken during 2008-2010. The WTO also makes certain recommendations.
Brazil's Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade reports that Brazil's exports rose 35.9% in September 2010 reaching $18.8 billion, compared to the same period in 2009. Imports also grew by 41%, reaching $17.7 billion, compared to September 2009 imports.
The European Commission has posted a "quick reading guide" to the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and South Korea. According to the EC, it is the most comprehensive FTA ever negotiated by the EU.
The European Commission reports that around 40 million cigarettes, 1,243 kg of hand-rolled tobacco, 7,038 liters of alcohol and 8 million other counterfeit items including clothing, shoes, toys and electronics, were seized under “Operation Sirocco,” a customs operation coordinated by the European Anti-Fraud Office in June 2010.
The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that it will now conclude by November 16, 2010 its re-investigation of certain flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip originating in or exported from Brazil, China, Chinese Taipei, Ukraine, South Africa and India (dumping), and certain flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip originating in or exported from India (subsidizing).
