According to the State Department, Resolution 1929 - which was passed by the U.N. Security Council on June 9, 2010 - imposes a series of new sanctions on Iran due to its nuclear program, including sanctions that would affect the movement of cargo. A new cargo inspection framework would be required, where States would inspect any vessel in their territory suspected of carrying prohibited cargo. States would also be expected to cooperate in such inspections on the high seas. The resolution also restricts the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and Iran Air's cargo division.
