At the first ever Clean Energy Ministerial in Washington, DC on July 20, 2010, European Commissioner for Energy Oettinger pledged the EC's active support for technology actions to promote energy efficiency of appliances worldwide, smart grids and renewable energy progress. The Clean Energy Ministerial is an initiative launched by the G8 process.
The European Chemicals Agency is seeking comments by September 3, 2010 on the harmonized classification and labeling of 8:2 Fluorotelomer alcohol (8:2 FTOH) . The comment request is part of the EU Regulation on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation), which allows individual EU Member States and industry to propose harmonized classification and labeling of substances (e.g. as mutagenic, carcinogenic, etc.).

The European Commission has posted a fact sheet on EU-China trade which states that Europe's imports from China grew by 16.5% on average per year during 2004-2008, making China its biggest source of manufactured goods. China is also Europe's fastest growing export market. Europe exported €81.7 billion worth of goods to China in 2009, 4% more than in 2008.
The European Union has announced it is appealing the June 2010 World Trade Organization panel report concerning EU subsidization of Airbus (DS3161) as there are aspects of the report which “need to be corrected or clarified.”

China's Ministry of Commerce reports that benefiting from the full completion of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA), bilateral trade between China and ASEAN in the first half of this year grew 54.7% while the average growth of Chinese foreign trade in the same period was 43.1%.
