The Food and Drug Administration has announced the availability of draft "Compliance Policy Guide Sec. 510.800 Beverages-Serving Size Labeling." The draft CPG, when finalized, will provide guidance for FDA staff on the agency's exercise of enforcement discretion related to serving size labeling for certain beverages that are packaged in containers larger than 20 fluid ounces and that display calories per 12 fluid ounce serving on the front of the container. To ensure that the FDA considers comments on the draft CPG before it begins work on the final version, comments are due by February 22, 2010.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted to its website the final rule that will soon be published in the Federal Register establishing new mandatory safety standards for full-size and non-full-size cribs. It has also posted copies of related, soon to be published documents, including the final rule that will revoke the existing regulations pertaining to full-size and non-full-size cribs and the lab accreditation requirements for these products.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has redesigned its homepage. Though the underlying webpages remain the same, the new homepage draws more attention to recent recalls, reporting unsafe products, and signing up for CPSC news and alerts. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued its annual report of All-Terrain Vehicle-Related Deaths and Injuries. By December 31, 2009, CPSC staff had received reports of 10,281 ATV-related deaths that occurred between 1982 and 2009. The number of ATV-related injuries from 2001-2009 ranged between 110,100 to 131,900 each year.
