The Food and Drug Administration is extending to December 31, 2010, the comment period for a notice of availability of a draft compliance policy guide (CPG) that appeared in the August 2, 2010 Federal Register, in which FDA requested comments on its proposal that certain criteria should be considered in recommending enforcement action against animal feed or feed ingredients that are adulterated due to the presence of Salmonella. U.S. Marshals, acting under a court order sought by the Food and Drug Administration, have seized an estimated $700,000 worth of rice and other packaged food products from a rodent-infested warehouse in East Point, Georgia. The FDA-regulated food products were stored in a warehouse operated by Sun Hong Kai Holding Inc., which does business as United Food Service.
