The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued a final rule, effective October 12, 2010, which amends the Export Administration Regulations to add three entities in China and identify their respective eligible items for export and reexport and transfer (in-country) under Authorization Validated End-User (VEU).
The Bureau of Industry and Security is recruiting private-sector members for seven Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) which advise the Commerce Department on the technical parameters for export controls applicable to dual-use commodities and technology and on the administration of those controls. On September 30, 2010, the State Department announced that the U.S. is imposing sanctions against NaftIran Intertrade Company, sometimes known as NICO, for its involvement in the Iranian petroleum sector under the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA). The Commerce Department announces that Secretary Locke will headline the International District Export Council Conference in Detroit, MI on October 24-27, 2010 entitled “Capitalizing on America’s Export Advantages: Green and Innovation.” Locke will highlight President Obama’s National Export Initiative -- aimed at doubling U.S. exports over the next five years and supporting several million new jobs.
