The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order denying certain export privileges to Ali Amirnazmi until January 11, 2020 pursuant to his conviction involving transactions with companies in Iran between November 1996 and June 2008 without obtaining the proper licenses from the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The Bureau of Industry and Security's Materials Processing Equipment Technical Advisory Committee (MPETAC) held a partially open meeting on March 2, 2011. The agenda for the open session included discussion on proposals from the last and for the next Wassenaar meeting, and a report on proposed changes to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
During the Export Control Forum on February 28, 2011, Eric Hirschhorn, Under Secretary for Industry and Commerce, discussed the Administration’s progress on export control reform, including proposed changes to the U.S. Munitions List (USML) and Commerce Control List (CCL), licensing policy, compliance and enforcement, etc.

The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls has issued a notice announcing that effective immediately, all export licenses for Libya issued pursuant to the authorities of the Arms Export Control Act and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 CFR 120-130) are hereby suspended until further notice. No further exports may be made against them. These actions have been entered into the Automated Export System (AES) data base and forwarded to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Additionally, no exemptions may be utilized for exports to Libya. Further guidance related to exports to Libya will be promulgated via a Federal Register Notice. The Bureau of Industry and Security has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget for approval a final rule entitled: "Amendment to the Export Administration Regulations: Part 750 - Application Processing, Issuance, and Denial."

The Food and Drug Administration issued its latest guidance document on FDA Export Certificates to industry and foreign governments in 2005. FDA states that firms exporting products from the U.S. are often asked by foreign customers or foreign governments to supply a certification relating to products subject to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act, and other statutes FDA administers. This guidance provides a general description of FDA export certifications, information on the types of export certificates FDA issues, and other FDA exporting requirements. In a January 2011 advisory opinion, the Bureau of Industry and Security again concluded, with respect to the specific circumstances described in the request for its opinion, that a cloud computing service provider was not subject to the Export Administration Regulations.
