The Commerce Department made final affirmative antidumping duty determinations that imports of thermoformed molded fiber products from China (A-570-182) and Vietnam (A-552-845) are being sold in the U.S. at less than fair value. Suspension of liquidation and cash deposit requirements will continue for entries on or after May 12, the date that the preliminary determinations were published in the Federal Register. Cash deposit rates set in these final determinations take effect Sept. 30.
The International Trade Commission began a Section 337 investigation on allegations that Sony, TCL Industries Holdings and their subsidiaries are importing and selling smart television sets that infringe patents held by Cerence Operating Company (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1461), it said in a notice to be published Sept. 30.

The International Trade Commission seeks comments by Oct. 4 on a Section 337 complaint alleging that imports of open-ear earpiece devices infringe patents held by Bose, it said in a notice to be published Sept. 26 in the Federal Register. According to the complaint, the respondents are seeking a general exclusion order and cease and desist orders against 22 Chinese companies to bar from entry "certain open-ear earpiece devices (also known as open-ear headphones or open earbuds)" that violate their patents. Bose described its products as "open-ear earbuds which, unlike traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones, do not block the ear canal, allowing users to hear both their audio and ambient sounds simultaneously."

The International Trade Commission seeks comments by Oct. 2 on a Section 337 complaint alleging that imports of vaporizer devices infringe patents held by NJOY, Altria and their subsidiaries, it said in a notice released Sept. 24. According to the complaint, NJOY is seeking a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against Juul Labs, Inc. to bar from entry "certain vaporizer devices, cartridges used therewith, and components thereof" that violate its patents. This is the latest in a series of dueling Section 337 complaints by NJOY and Juul, and the ITC is currently investigating a similar complaint by Juul filed in August (see 2509100017).
