CBP has posted an update on the progress of the southwest border fence construction. According to CBP, as of August 20, 2010, CBP has completed roughly 649.1 miles of fencing (350.3 miles of primary pedestrian fence and 298.8 miles of vehicle fence) along the Southwest Border.
CBP has posted the U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter for August 26 - September 1, 2010. The Blotter provides information on Border Patrol activities during the specified week.
CBP has issued a guidance document on its recent announcement that it will no longer collect the additional 10% duty on imports of softwood lumber products from the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan for products with a shipment date of September 1, 2010 or later. The U.S. and Canada have come to an understanding that results in the U.S. discontinuing collection of this 10% duty. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a CSMS message announcing that the ACE ABI CATAIR chapters containing revisions to party definitions were deployed to ACE Production on August 28, 2010. These changes are scheduled for deployment to the ACE CERT environment on September 11, 2010.
