U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced that trademark and copyright holders can now provide their product identification guides electronically for use by CBP to identify counterfeit goods and prevent them from entering the U.S.
CBP has posted Amendment 52 to the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements document. The following sections were revised: Cargo/Manifest Status Query and Appendix A (Cross Reference).

The Port of Long Beach has released the final environmental analysis for a plan to replace the aging Gerald Desmond Bridge with a new, nearly $1 billion span that would improve traffic flow, safety and vessel navigation. The Gerald Desmond Bridge, built in 1968, is a vital route for cargo, carrying about 15% of the nation’s goods. The new bridge would have three traffic lanes plus emergency lanes in both directions, making it safer and better able to accommodate cars and trucks on a major Southern California commuting route. In addition, the new bridge would be higher to allow for the newest generation of green cargo ships to pass underneath.
In the July 28, 2010 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (Vol. 44, No. 31), CBP issued a notice announcing its receipt of a "Lever-Rule" application from Arla Foods amba for its cream and processed cheese products.

CBP has issued a memorandum regarding the Committee for Implementation of Textile Agreements' recent determination that certain textile and apparel goods from Burkina Faso shall be treated as “folklore articles” and “ethnic printed fabrics” and qualify for preferential treatment under the African Growth and Opportunity Act, and imports of eligible products with an appropriate visa will qualify for duty-free treatment. Broker Power is now issuing weekly summary reports highlighting the most active textile and apparel tariff preference levels1 from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s “Quota Weekly Commodity Status Report.” BP’s weekly report also lists the TRQ commodities on CBP’s weekly “TRQ/TPL Threshold to Fill List.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a CSMS message stating that its previously announced changes to Importer Security Filing Status Advisory (SA) messages and stow plan responses messages are scheduled to be implemented on August 7, 2010.
