Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the CBP's electronic system through which the international trade community reports imports and exports to and from the U.S. and the government determines admissibility.
CBP has posted to its Web site a draft version of an update to the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR) Appendix H (Census Warning Messages and Override Codes). This appendix provides a list of Census' warning messages, their description, resolution, and override code(s). CBP states that any decisions, policies, and solutions set forth in this draft technical document are subject to change at any time without prior notice. CBP adds that until such time that it issues a final version of this technical guide, the draft is not considered approved, endorsed, or sanctioned by CBP and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to sources at the Census Bureau's Foreign Trade Division, the final rule on the mandatory filing of export information in the Automated Export System (AES) is still delayed.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a "strawman proposal"1 entitled "CBP Proposal for Advance Trade Data Elements", in order to facilitate its development of regulations to collect 10 additional commercial shipping data elements from importers or their agents and 2 additional data sets from ocean carriers. CBP's proposal is commonly referred to as ten plus two (10+2).

CBP has issued an ABI administrative message stating that on December 8, 2006 the port of Chicago will be moving to the Rosemont, Illinois facility. Due to the move, people should not to deliver any duty payments or customs paperwork to the port of Chicago office. As a result, December 8, 2006 will be considered a snow day. CBP is extending one additional day without penalty for the filing and payment of entry summaries due on that day.
