The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that the second meeting of the Chronic Hazard Advisory Panel (CHAP) on phthalates and phthalate substitutes will be held on July 26-28, 2010 in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Department of Energy has proposed amendments to its test procedure for residential central air conditioners and heat pumps. Among other things, the amendments would add parameters for establishing regional measures of energy efficiency. DOE will hold a public meeting on June 11, 2010 to receive and discuss comments on the proposal.
The Environmental Protection Agency has issued a notice announcing a 90-day public comment period and a public listening session on July 27 for the external review draft human health assessment titled, “Toxicological Review of Formaldehyde Inhalation Assessment: In Support of Summary Information on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS).”

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced an increased civil penalty and revised provisional settlement agreement with Schylling Associates Inc. of Massachusetts to settle allegations that it: (i) violated the lead paint ban regarding toys it imported and sold; and (ii) failed to immediately report the problems to CPSC.

The International Trade Administration is notifying the public that Form ITA-362P, which importers of articles for the handicapped were required to complete in order to receive duty-free treatment, is discontinued as of May 31, 2010 because the majority of the information obtained through this form is currently available through the Automated Commercial System (ACS), and therefore the form is redundant.
