CBP announced the results of recent global interoperability standards technology demonstrations, saying that the results will help the agency in its efforts to modernize ACE 2.0 and make it consistent with CBP's 21st Century Customs Framework.

President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Air Force 1 on Feb. 9, said he will impose 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum from all countries. Most countries' aluminum is currently subject to 10% tariffs, with Canada and Mexico exempted from Section 232 steel and aluminum duties. He did not say when the tariff changes would take effect.

A new vessel sharing agreement between Japanese carrier Ocean Network Express, South Korea-based Hyundai Merchant Marine and Taiwan-based Yang Ming Marine Transportation (see 2411070005) will take effect Feb. 9, the Federal Maritime Commission said Feb. 6 after completing its review. The commission said it carried out an “economic analysis of the competitive effects of the” arrangement, called the Premier Alliance Agreement, adding that all agreements “are subject to the strictest standards for ongoing monitoring by the Commission.”
