APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 20-21
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails on March 20-21, 2012 announcing a number of changes to various Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some of the changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

- Treatment Manual. The online PPQ Treatment Manual has been updated. There were several reasons for the update: 1) Page 5-2-27 schedule T101-h-2: revised temperature range "40-49 F" to "40 F and above" 2) Page 5-2-29 schedule T101-k-2 and -k-2-1: added the pest Melanagromyza obtusa (pigeon pea pod fly) to the pests controlled by this treatment 3) Page 6-3-3: revised text. - Plants for Planting Manual. The interim edition of the Plants for Planting Manual has been updated to correct the entry status for some plants, to add cross-references, to add or delete common names, and to make other minor changes. Revisions, identified by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows: 1) Page 3-24: Added Andropogon halepensis and Andropogon sorghum and cross-references to Sorghum bicolor 2) Page 3-101: Changed Coix spp., all propagules except seeds, to prohibited from all countries 3) Page 3-102: Deleted some common names for Coix spp. seeds 4) Page 3-161: Added cross-reference from Euchlaena luxurians to Zea spp. 5) Page 3-315: Added see also cross-references to Pennisetum spp. 6) Page 3-318: Added Pennisetum glaucum and Pennisetum purpureum, all propagules except seeds 7) Page 3-379: Added Sachurum officinarum, all propagules except seeds 8) Page 3-401: Corrected the Solanum tuberosum scientific name 9) Page 3-403: Added see also cross-references from Sorghum spp. to Sorghum bicolor 10) Page 3-405: Added Sorghum bicolor, all propagules except seeds 11) Page 3-458: Changed Zea spp. and Zea mays. all propagules except seeds, to prohibited from all countries; added common names for Zea spp. (03/21/2012) (here)
- Seeds Not for Planting Manual. The Seeds Not for Planting Manual has been updated to change the address of an approved facility and to replace a broken link. The revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows: 1) Page 3-39, Table 3-34: Changed address of Shah Nanji Nagsi Exports Pvt.
