APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 11
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails April 11, 2012, announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes to the have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here):
Chapter 3-6: Eggs and Egg Products from Poultry, Game Birds, or Other Birds
- Contents Page 3-6-1 "Whole Egg Shells" entry has been modified
- Table 3-6-2 Where to Find the Regulatory Action on Eggs and Egg Products NOT Authorized by a VS Permitlanguage in last cell of first column (If the importation is:) has been modified
- Page 3-6-3"Whole Egg Shells" section title has been modified
- Table 3-6-3 Whole Egg Shellsfirst and second cells of first column (If the importation is:) have been modified; footnote #1 has been added
Chapter 3-10: Foreign Meat and Meat Products
- Table 3-10-1 Regulatory Action on Meat and Meat Products of Horse footnote #1 has been added
- Table 3-10-3 Action to Take on Horse Meat from Argentina or Paraguay Dependent Upon Consignment to an Approved Establishmentfootnote #1 has been added
- Table 3-10-4 Regulatory Action to Take on Horse Meat from a Country Known to Be FREE from FMDfootnote #2 has been added; instructions in the first cell of the last column (Then:) have been modified
Appendix A: Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage or Mail
- Contents Page A-1-1 "Shell Eggs" entry has been modified
- Page A-1-29"Shell Eggs" section title has been modified; language in first paragraph of this section has been modified
Postentry Quarantine Manual: The following changes have been made to the Postentry Quarantine Manual (here)to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:
- Appendix A Directory of PPQ Postentry Quarantine Liaison Officers: Maryland contact information has been updated
- Links contained in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and the Index have all been updated as needed.
