APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 28

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails June 28 announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

  • Table 3-22 Bamboo (Bambusoideae) change corrected table title for accuracy
  • Table 3-129 Peppers, dried (Capsicum spp.) change corrected table title for clarity
  • Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, Index, as well as internal and external cross-references have all been updated.

Plants for Planting Manual: The interim edition of the Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, transmittal 06/2012-07, to add information on propagative plant material entering from Canada. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 2-11: Revised the first bullet for plants grown under the Canadian greenhouse certification program
  • Page 2-12: Added a new paragraph for propagative plant material entering from Canada
  • Formatting changes have also been made.
