APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 29

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails June 29 announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) has been revised. The reasons for the revisions are:

  • Page 2-3-4: Revised the expiration date for FIFRA Section 18 crisis exemptions
  • Pages 5-2-4: revised the IMPORTANT NOTE for treatment schedule T101-b-1
  • Page 5-2-29: changed the scientific names of pests controlled by schedules T101-k-2 and T101-k-2-1 ("Epinotia aporema" to "Crocidosema aporema" and "Maruca testulalis" to "Maruca vitrata").
  • Page 5-2-64 and 5-2-66: removed the footnote for "asparagus" (treatment schedules T104-a-1 and T104-a-2)
  • Page 6-4-5: added an IMPORTANT NOTE "Do not conduct vessel certification if temperatures in the vessel holds are less than -0.3 C (31.5F)."
