APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Sept. 7

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Sept. 7 announcing changes to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Seeds Not for Planting Manual: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, transmittal 09/2012-50, to revise Castanea spp. (chestnuts) and Cocus nucifera (coconuts) procedures. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 3-7, Table 3-4, Chestnuts: deleted footnote allowing inspection in lieu of import permit
  • Page 3-11, Table 3-6, Coconuts: deleted cross-reference and added prohibit entry
