APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Sept. 17
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Sept. 17 announcing changes to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Dracaena spp. Facilities: The list of Approved Dracaena spp. Facilities (here) has been updated, transmittal 09/2012-05, to add two new facilities. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar, are on page 1 and page 3.
Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the table number below
- Table 3-210 Pine logs from Ontario or Quebec--pine shoot beetle requirements-language in footnote #1 has been corrected to reflect the proper required documentation
Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index, as well as internal and external cross-references have all been updated as needed.
FAVIR and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual: The Fruits and Vegetable Import Requirements Database (FAVIR) (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) have been revised. The reason for the revision was to align with the "Federal Import Quarantine Order for Host Materials of Tomato Leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick)", DA-2012-12.
The following countries currently have a systems approach program for tomatoes that meets the requirements listed in the Federal Order, however, there are regional restrictions for certain countries.
In FAVIR, open the Commodity Import Report (CIR) for tomato from these countries to view the import requirements:
- Chile
- Israel
- Morocco
- Netherlands
- Panama
- Spain
- Western Sahara
