APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 1

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 1 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting Manual: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, transmittal 10/2012-13, to revise entries for Aesculus and Schlumbergera. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 4-15: Deleted separate entries for Aesculus californica & A. hippocastanum for Phytopthora ramorum since Aesculus spp. are regulated by a more restrictive Federal Order
  • Page 4-391: Added a link to Schlumbergera
